What is CASPER? Hospice reporting system
CASPER is where a hospice reads its HQRP compliance percentage, quality-measure scores, and HOPE submission history. Every hospice QAPI, IT, and compliance lead should be able to pull CASPER reports on demand.
CASPER, in one sentence
CASPER is the CMS reporting portal hospices use to see their HQRP submission compliance, quality-measure results, and provider-level feedback reports.
What CASPER shows
HOPE submission acknowledgment status, HQRP compliance percentage, provider-level quality-measure results (once available), and downloadable feedback reports.
Who has access
CASPER access is granted at the provider level and typically shared among the QAPI lead, IT admin, and compliance officer. Access is provisioned through the QIES portal via the state agency or CMS.
How often to pull CASPER
Weekly during a submission cycle. Monthly for a stable quality dashboard. Any time a HOPE workflow change happens, pull CASPER to confirm the change did not break submission.
